Summerour & Associates Architects was begun in 1991, by Keith Summerour, a
graduate of Auburn University. This youthful but seasoned firm acknowledges the
changing world without losing sight of timeless standards. Summerour,
Architecture of Permanence, Scale, and Proportion is the title of the monograph
by William R. Mitchell, Jr. being issued in the fall of 2006. Mitchell,
architectural historian and founder of Southern Architecture Foundation, Inc.,
compares Summerour with distinguished architectural classicists of the early
twentieth century, such as Neel Reid, Lewis Crook and Philip Shutze.
Today, with over forty employees, Summerour & Associates retains the family
atmosphere of Keith’s original studio. In January 2005, Summerour Interiors was
added to the team. Each associate brings his or her unique skills and
experiences to the collaborative process. Locations include a main office in
Atlanta, a refurbished former factory overlooking Atlantic Station, a second
office on St. Simons Island, Georgia, and two additional studios in the
mountains of Cashiers, North Carolina, and in the cradle of classicism,
Florence, Italy. The Summerour team focuses on high-end residences, vacation
homes, and quality commercial projects. The design process combines the
clients wishes with the firms attention to detail and craftsmanship to create
architecture that will be cherished for generations.
